WALL-E- Cute. Love story. Movie with a lesson about human society. Wonderfully animated, detailed CG. I love the relationship between WALL-E and EVE. WALL-E's so adorable and his personality is child-like (friendly, attracted to shiny objects) though his "heart" is that of a love-sick puppy dog who's lonely and only friend is a cockroach. I enjoyed the movie but didn't think it was as heart wrenching or tear-jerking as everyone else said it was. Though it should win for animated picture, no doubt. "Too much garbage in your place? There is plenty of space out in space! BnL StarLiners leaving each day. We'll clean up the mess while you're away."
Conversations with Other Women-Wonderfully interesting movie with stars Aaron Eckheart (Dark Knight) and Helena Bonham Carter (Sweeny Todd). I enjoy both of these actors and was especially impressed with this movie because the entire thing is based off of their conversation in one evening. A wedding party brings them together and the viewer soon comes to realize that they know each other from the past...somehow. The way this movie is shot is very different, and in my opinion it was different in a very good way. The screen almost constantly has two camera angles, one on Aaron and one on Helena. There are also flashbacks on one screen and points in the movie. Very original. Though I thought it would be EXTREMELY boring to just watch the two talk the whole entire movie, I appreciated it for what it was, a conversation. Interesting fact, they never even name the characters in the movie....simply a man and a woman. "The illusion of effortlessness requires a great effort indeed.
Babel-Award nominated movie. Interesting stories of people who would NEVER be connected in real life...yet somehow they are all connected by the matter of a gun. Each set of characters have trouble with communication, whether it's getting in touch with your country in the hopes of salvation, to being a deaf mute who just wants to get LAID already. Though a good quantity of the movie is in subtitles, I sucked it up and watched anyways. It was very good, no wonder it was nominated. The title is interesting, and at first had me thinking about the pig-movie. Scary to think that such extreme circumstances happen to people in real-life. Being trapped and injured in a foreign country, or watching your mom commit suicide. Yikes. "It's almost new. Three hundred cartridges. The guy who gave it to me said you can hit as far as three kilometers."
Doomsday-This movie was just a little stupid and gruesome. The plot line is very weird and somewhat poorly developed. And I'm gonna say the musical selection for this movie doesn't seem at all like it should be in this movie. The enclosed area is suppose to be society at it's all time low. Didn't seem all that bad to me. Same type of thing that the Romans and Greeks and older civilizations did. I guess it really was a "man eat man" society huh? Soooo there's either super strict society or a crazy no rules one? Weird. But there are always a gem even in the darkest of places? I'm not digging it. "This is our city! Whoever they send here, we're gonna catch them, we're gonna kill them, and we're gonna eat them!"
Pineapple Express-HILARIOUS MOVIE! Oh man I loved it! Seth Rogen is so frickin' awesome! I was also really surprised about how much of a plot there actually was to this movie! Not only about dope smokin' lol. However I'm not for drugs really, so there were parts of the story I couldn't help but dislike a little. But, it is just a movie right? It's that movie's world and they can do whatever they want with it. However it's based on the real world so...yeah I dunno. Anyways, SO many appearances from actors who were in Knocked Up and other movies of comedic genius over thus past year. The bouncer from Knocked Up, the doctor from Knocked Up, etc etc. I love how those guys stick together! So many good one liners, and you really get to feel the bond Seth Rogen and James Franco have. And James Franco was surprisingly funny, I wouldn't normally be able to see him in that role. Good job boys, good job. "Umm, heat-seeking missiles, bloodhounds, foxes, barracudas."
