As opposed to what, a *chocolate* lion?

So I went and saw the movie Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, unfortunately the second didn't trump the first (which is why I'm so afraid that they already said yes to a "three" before this one even came out!). With fairly good music and some very strange previews (one about the movie two races of mythical creatures signing a treaty and then it doesn't work out and there's a pixie like tribe and another that looks like frog people, blah, weird it's called DELGO, take a look if you don't believe me) Anyways, back to Madagascar 2, I mean yes there were some funny moments, most of them either including the penguins, OR Sacha Baron Cohen who plays a hilarious monkey king...he does a really good job. I guess I can't expect much from the plot since it's a simple children's movie the facts are that most children's movies have stepped up their game and have made itself entertaining for not just the kids but the parents too. I don't feel as though Madagascar quite reached that level. It was alright, but again, the movie just seemed to be lacking something in my eyes. (Image owned by Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa)

Burn After Reading is just a super crazy movie. I didn't really laugh all that much, though the previews made it seem like the movie was a "roll on the floor laughing" movie... . However, there weren't any ROFL moments for me. It's an incredibly dark comedy, all focusing on the misunderstandings of each character in the  movie. With the previews making it seem as though the entire movie is centered about Brad Pitt, the movie barely highlights on him and he ends up no longer being in it three fourths of the way in. The movie is just incredibly dark. There's a lot of swearing but the movie itself is quite slow paced. It's a lot of normal type characters doing normal every day things. Going to the gym, going to work, being fired, jogging, cheating on your spouse, and building sex toys. I wouldn't really recommend the movie for anyone who needs action packed movies or bust-your-gut comedies because it is neither.

You white, then you Ben Affleck.

I wanted to see it and sure enough that's just what I did. Role Models was fan-flippin-tastic! The humor was smart with a lot of tongue-in-cheek moments. The character Danny (played by Paul Rudd) has this unmistakable look on his face whenever someone says something odd around him. A sort of, "what the hell?" Sean William Scott does an amazing job making his character act completely happy with his life, with very little regrets or expectations. Bobb'e J Thompson is going to be an up and coming young actor who will work well in the "R rated" comedies. This young boy probably does the most swearing I have ever heard of someone under the age of 15. Throw in a styrofoam sword wielding dorky McLovin (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) and you've got a star comedic cast. When Rudd drives a giant Minator-shaped truck onto a statue of a horse in front of a bunch of high schoolers, both he and Scott's characters are forced into community service. Enter Augie and Ronnie, their "Littles" (like a Little Brother-Big Brother scenario). Though the movie is rated R, it came out right around the time of Zack and Miri, and from what I hear....it's the calmer of the two. A lot of the movie is intelligent, with a decent plot. I personally thought that Augie's world was ESPECIALLY funny! Though my favorite part includes the formation of the mythical land of Kiss-my-anthia.....you'll get it when you see it. :)

Movies I want to see....

Zack and Miri Make a Porno- First of all, I adore Seth Rogen. He's funny and sweet and does an awesome job making new-aged comedies. I feel as though it'll be a bit naughty...but I'm willing to put up with it in order to enjoy this comedy. Elizabeth Banks will also be showing in SEVERAL movies in close succession including W., Zack and Miri, Role Models, and her upcoming projects are The Uninvited, and the H-Man cometh.

Role Models- Sean William Scott has charmed me in all the American Pies as well as "The Rundown" so, add Sean William Scott with Paul Rudd (who is an amazing actor and has done some spectacular supporting actor roles including "Knocked Up" and "Forgetting Sarah Marshall"....who will P.S. be in a movie in 2009 called "I Love You, Man" with him and Jason Segel in it again [just like FSM]) and you've got yourself a decent comedy. Neither of them have really gotten the chance to hold a movie up on their own. Mostly all their movies are supporting roles so this is their chance to really prove themselves. Add Christopher Mintz- Plasse to the mix (for everyone who doesn't know...that is McLovin!) and how can you even go wrong with it?

Four Christmases- Vince Vaughn always lures me in with his bantering style of comedy. He just talks and talks and talks and talks and talks, and it's hilarious. The longer winded his speech is, the funnier it gets. Reese Witherspoon is in this movie with him and they seem to do what we normal folks can only dream of...to ditch all family for Christmas and instead have a tropical getaway. This tactic has been working for them pretty well...until there's a cancellation of all flights out of their airport. Being seen on the television that's covering the airports closing, they have no excuse....they HAVE to visit their families...all four of them.

Quantum of Solace- Okay so yes, all my other movies I'm looking forward to seeing are comedies....can you blame me? They're funny. They have you leaving the movie theatre with a grin on your face...or pee in your pants (on the most extreme occasions). Quantum of Solace will do all that and more. No one can contain their excitment for the new James Bond movie. Daniel Craig (though with that blonde hair and blue eyes) portrayed one of the most convincing James Bond's we've had since Roger Moore. Yes, I'm making the statement that Roger Moore totally kicked major James Bond ass! Heck yes! Anyways, it's going to be action packed, thrilling, explosions, cars, and JB just beating people up bloody raw....exactly what you want in a Bond movie. We can only hope Daniel Craig will be forced into a tight swimsuit again...oh yeah :).
