So, Son of the Mask, made in 2005. I didn't think it was as horrible as everyone else did. I thought the animation was actually really good. Though I hated the character that Jamie Kennedy changed into when he became the mask. Super ultra retarded. But the baby was cute, the dog was funny, and Alan Cumming or PeeWee....was well, creepy, as he aught to be. It took the obstacle of having a new baby in the house with the mother leaving and having the father take control. Which usually starts with optimism, is always chaos, but ends up well. It can't even compare to the original mask (sorry Jamie, you're no Jim), but, I did like it. Friday, August 29, 2008
And I'm Tim, God of Crazy-Baby-Land. Can you move please?

Though I've never gotten high and stolen a batch of my creepy roommate’s drug-laced party cupcakes, I sure do feel for poor Jane. Smiley Face is the story of a totally trashed girl who has to run her daily errands completely stoned. There were a BUNCH of well known stars in this movie. Anna Farris (House Bunny), Danny Masterson (That 70's Show), Brian Posehn (comedian), Jane Lynch (40-yr-old-virgin), John Krasinski (The Office!), and Jayma Mays (who played in Epic Movie and I couldn't place her face until I looked her up! But I knew that I knew her!). Anyways, lots of people for a small underground movie. I hadn't heard anything of this movie and it was made in 2007. But I did like it. I even laughed out loud at a couple of parts. P.S. Also an appearance from John Cho (Harold and Kumar movies)...perfect for a stoner movie wouldn't you say? Wednesday, August 27, 2008
Mister, if you don't shut up I'm gonna kick one hundred percent of your ass!
Ahhh, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, what a classic. The brilliant Sean Penn was given his break out role supported by Judge Reinhold. Most of the other actors I don't really see around nor do I remember...so I suppose that can say something right there. It's a perfect 80's movie about sex, pot, and high school, much like today's Superbad. It was truly all about "fast times", so the title worked. I was surprised how dirty it really was. Plenty of bongs, boobs, and yep, even some masturbation. It had its funny parts (mostly all scenes including Sean Penn) vs. his uptight U.S. History teacher. Though I wouldn't mind ordering one extra cheese sausage pizza during class sometime...think the teacher would mind?Sunday, August 24, 2008
You're British?
Alright so needless to say...I'm glad I didn't pay the full price to see this movie The House Bunny was an ultra chick flick pretty much and I have to say I'm biased because I just don't like them. Overall this movie wasn't very memorable. The plot is was just boring and silly. Though there were some funny moments, the only redeeming part of this movie was its female up-and-coming actresses. Emma Stone and Kat Dennings are going to be starlets I think. They both have several movies in progress and are both incredibly funny. Of course, the lead, Miss Anna Faris always holds a special place in my heart for willing to be funny/gross/and do slapstick comedy. She's willing to go where other actresses wouldn't in afraid of losing their sexy appeal. Though she's been in all three of the Scary Movies and many others where she's shown a "non-girly" side, it didn't stop her hotness in this movie. Guest appearances from Hugh Heffner and real Playboy Bunnies were bland and uneventful. I feel the major part where they went wrong was that the "villains", each of them weren't made to be that big of a threat. They also weren't made nearly mean enough. By the end of the movie you want the audience to despise the villain and wish horrible things upon them. The "bad girls" really weren't anything to brag about.

Yeah? Well I sure hope he showed ya how to pull a fire poker outta your ass!
Just Married...made in 2003 it was a slapstick comedy about marriage on the rocks...did I mention they're only on their honeymoon? With Ashton Kutcher and Brittany Murphy, they made a very good couple. They didn't just seem in love, they seemed like friends too. They were capable of goofing around together, which is what should be included in any relationship. Ashton Kutcher always does a good job with his freak outs (he attacks an attempted wife-stealer) which was funny. The movie shows how hard relationships can be when the two people come from different worlds. It also shows how hard it is when there's money involved. Little rich girl's family doesn't think he's good enough. But love is love, and the movie is basically about if love is good enough. Thursday, August 21, 2008
Look out Napoleon Dynamite
Because I just watched The Sasquatch Dumpling Gang. It was made in 2006 and even has guest appearances by Jon Gries (Uncle Rico) and even Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite). So this movie has actors Justin Long (Accepted, Waiting) and Jeremy Sumpter (Peter Pan). It was an all around amazing movie for a geek. The characters are the perfect stereotypical dorky/dwebie/nerdy/fantastic-ness. I laughed really hard at this movie and think it's something my friends would enjoy. Awesome movie references, laser tag fights, paintball attacks, and giant-foam-sword battles. It's a dream. There are a lot of time jumps throughout the movie...but it all makes sense once you get the hang of it. The basic plot is several different people's lives intertwining around a Sasquatch sighting. Is it real? Is it fake? You won't know till about.....30 minutes into the movie. HA!Wednesday, August 20, 2008
I don't read the script. The script reads me.
Tropic Thunder was an okay movie. Fortunately the amazing stars that were in it really carried it. Robert Downey Jr. was SUPER RAD as his character Kirk Lazarus. Ben Stiller was also very funny even though there was controversy about his character because HIS character played a retarded person. A lot of guest celebrities like Matthew McConaughey, Tom Cruise, Tobey Maguire, Lance Bass, and Jennifer Love Hewitt to name a few. I didn't think that Tom Cruise was as funny as everyone made him out to be. He just says the F word a lot and threatens people. Yes his dance is funny, but any famous actor in a fat suit dancing to a rap song would be funny. I love how crazy Ben Stiller goes in the jungle. Plus killing pandas is always great family movie fun.
1987 classic The Monster Squad was finally seen by me...today. For such an old movie, it had fresh humor mixed with the traditional movie monsters. What a classic. The monsters were wonderful! The costumes and make up design was fantastic for a 1987 movie. I mean dang, I wasn't even born yet!!!! The beagle dog was super cute! Plus (spoiler) I love how the army shows up after an unmarked note is sent to them written in crayon by a kiddy. It's hilarious. Anyways, I sure did enjoy it; old movies can still be good movies. I was on vacation for a week...I've got catching up to do.

WALL-E- Cute. Love story. Movie with a lesson about human society. Wonderfully animated, detailed CG. I love the relationship between WALL-E and EVE. WALL-E's so adorable and his personality is child-like (friendly, attracted to shiny objects) though his "heart" is that of a love-sick puppy dog who's lonely and only friend is a cockroach. I enjoyed the movie but didn't think it was as heart wrenching or tear-jerking as everyone else said it was. Though it should win for animated picture, no doubt. "Too much garbage in your place? There is plenty of space out in space! BnL StarLiners leaving each day. We'll clean up the mess while you're away."
Conversations with Other Women-Wonderfully interesting movie with stars Aaron Eckheart (Dark Knight) and Helena Bonham Carter (Sweeny Todd). I enjoy both of these actors and was especially impressed with this movie because the entire thing is based off of their conversation in one evening. A wedding party brings them together and the viewer soon comes to realize that they know each other from the past...somehow. The way this movie is shot is very different, and in my opinion it was different in a very good way. The screen almost constantly has two camera angles, one on Aaron and one on Helena. There are also flashbacks on one screen and points in the movie. Very original. Though I thought it would be EXTREMELY boring to just watch the two talk the whole entire movie, I appreciated it for what it was, a conversation. Interesting fact, they never even name the characters in the movie....simply a man and a woman. "The illusion of effortlessness requires a great effort indeed.
Babel-Award nominated movie. Interesting stories of people who would NEVER be connected in real life...yet somehow they are all connected by the matter of a gun. Each set of characters have trouble with communication, whether it's getting in touch with your country in the hopes of salvation, to being a deaf mute who just wants to get LAID already. Though a good quantity of the movie is in subtitles, I sucked it up and watched anyways. It was very good, no wonder it was nominated. The title is interesting, and at first had me thinking about the pig-movie. Scary to think that such extreme circumstances happen to people in real-life. Being trapped and injured in a foreign country, or watching your mom commit suicide. Yikes. "It's almost new. Three hundred cartridges. The guy who gave it to me said you can hit as far as three kilometers."
Doomsday-This movie was just a little stupid and gruesome. The plot line is very weird and somewhat poorly developed. And I'm gonna say the musical selection for this movie doesn't seem at all like it should be in this movie. The enclosed area is suppose to be society at it's all time low. Didn't seem all that bad to me. Same type of thing that the Romans and Greeks and older civilizations did. I guess it really was a "man eat man" society huh? Soooo there's either super strict society or a crazy no rules one? Weird. But there are always a gem even in the darkest of places? I'm not digging it. "This is our city! Whoever they send here, we're gonna catch them, we're gonna kill them, and we're gonna eat them!"
Pineapple Express-HILARIOUS MOVIE! Oh man I loved it! Seth Rogen is so frickin' awesome! I was also really surprised about how much of a plot there actually was to this movie! Not only about dope smokin' lol. However I'm not for drugs really, so there were parts of the story I couldn't help but dislike a little. But, it is just a movie right? It's that movie's world and they can do whatever they want with it. However it's based on the real world so...yeah I dunno. Anyways, SO many appearances from actors who were in Knocked Up and other movies of comedic genius over thus past year. The bouncer from Knocked Up, the doctor from Knocked Up, etc etc. I love how those guys stick together! So many good one liners, and you really get to feel the bond Seth Rogen and James Franco have. And James Franco was surprisingly funny, I wouldn't normally be able to see him in that role. Good job boys, good job. "Umm, heat-seeking missiles, bloodhounds, foxes, barracudas."
