Because we wouldn't haunt in Mexico?

Today before work I watched An American Haunting.

Now, I thought the movie was overall well made. I believe the movie would have people on the edge of their seats, trying to figure out just WHAT is happening to this little family. With the movie taking place in modern day time but reliving the early 1800's with a family who quickly enough becomes haunted by a spirit, it makes you feel like wearing a milk maid outfit or something. Supposedly this is based off of real events. This movie is about the only documented case in U.S. history where a spirit killed a man....or so they say.

Anyways, I figured out the plot twists and ending half way through the movie, but I feel as though normal people might not have such a warped and twisted mind as I do, and might not come to the conclusion of what was really happening as fast as I did.

I really enjoyed Rachel Hurd-Wood as the lead actress in the movie. I enjoyed her as the role of Wendy in Peter Pan, and it was good to see she could do something else with herself. She has this certain innocent it factor that makes her perfect onscreen.

I've gotta say I rather enjoyed it. Knowing the world isn't perfect, you can't trust anyone, and psychologically speaking you might not know what's going on in that brain of yours. Repressed memories, hallucinations, spirits? Anything and everything can be possible.

Last night with Charlie Bartlett

I just watched Charlie Bartlett on DVD last night. This generation's Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

This movie was interesting. With comedy that some get and others don't...I got about half of it. Some of it was just a little immature for me. I enjoyed the rolls of:

  • Charlie Bartlett, the confused teenager who is constantly getting himself into trouble.

  • Principal Gardner, an ex-history teacher whose wife left him which forced him to alcoholism.

  • Murphey Bivens, the punk-ass bully Charlie ends up befriending (stole the scene most of the time).

I feel that Anton Yelchin who played Charlie was fairly green and just a little too innocent for the role he played. However, he did some of the best, funniest accents I've seen on screen for a while. Robert Downey Jr. played the role of the alcoholic principal very well (surprise?). I love him to death though, and with an intense moment towards the end of the movie, you really see his talent. Overall is was a good movie, with a lot of discussion of dysfunctional families and showing society just what a hard time teenagers really do have.

Iron Man, find me someone who DIDN'T like this movie...

I've got to say...Iron Man made me feel something in a movie theatre that I haven't felt in a loooooong time. Get your minds out of the gutter! I'm talking about the sheer excitement that going to the movies was like for you when you were a little kid! Now, I'm an only child who grew up with a big influence from my dad. That meant a love of comic books, superheroes, and cartoons.

So needless to say I was pretty damn stoked for Iron Man.

I also have always been a fan of Robert Downey Jr., and couldn't wait for him to have his break out role. He just needed and second chance, and wow did he prove himself! Iron Man didn't have the slow ridiculous start as most Marvel movies do....there was no camera zooming through webs or diving through DNA strands. It was action from the get-go. The plot was amazing (a sense of patriotism that I found helpful with America not being too fond of itself lately), the actors were incredible, the characters well developed and with excellent senses of humor. I especially loved Tony Stark's robots in this lab. They supplied comic relief AND touched your heart (like they were cute little pets or something). I really haven't heard anyone bash this movie. Most other reviews I have read have always been positive. If anyone DID have anything to bad to say about it....well I'd just tell them to shut up because they don't know what they're talking about XP.

So far this movie is hands down the best of the summer...NO LIE!

...

I wonder if it will stay that way.....many are saying the Dark Knight....but I won't know till I compare the two.
